3D CAD & Manufacturing
Course Overview:
This class builds on students' 2 dimensional drawing skills and teaches them 3D drawing using
3D software packages. Finished drawings will be printed using a 3D printer. They will be
introduced to new technology such as 3D scanners and laser cutters. The class will include
simple design projects.

Students can talk to me during class or after school. I can also be reached by email, landergan.catherine@marbleheadschools.org. Should parents like to speak with or meet with me, I am happy to set up an appointment.

Homework Policy:
Home work must be handed in a timely fashion.
Quizzes/Test:
There is a final exam at the end of the semester. It is approximately 10% of the quarter's grade.

3D AutoCAD Projects

Create a 3D chess piece scanning yourself and printing it on the 3D printer

With a partner design a game of your choice

Laser cut designs

Projects of your choice, with an eye on productivity and profitability.
Extra Help:
Extra help is available during student's study halls or after school from 2:30 to 3:00.
Tardiness and Absences:
Student will need to make up any tardiness at the end of the day.
Make Up Work:
Work can be made up till the end of the quarter for full credit.
Grading:
Grades are based on points averaged by quarter: Final Exam: 10% ,Homework: 5%, attitude and effort: 10%, projects: 75%. All work will be reviewed with the student. Assignments can be resubmitted for full credit till the end of the quarter. Any plagiarism will result in a 0 for the assignment. Each student is expected to be actively working in the CAD lab during each class period. Failure to work actively will result in a zero for that class.
Field trip:
We will go on one field trip, to visit an industrial design firm and have our work reviewed.
