ARCHITECTURE-838

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 - semester 2.5 credits

Prerequisite: Intro to Tech Drawing

 

This course will continue to explore the field of Technical Drawing, an important

element in “STEAM” education, using AutoCAD and Sketchup software. In this class

we begin to explore the field of architecture by creating working drawings of a

dream house with a scaled Sketchup 3D model as well as a laser cut model.

 

Course Outline
  • Intro to architectural drawing

  • Introduction to Sketchup

  • The work of Frank Lloyd Wright and other well know architects

  • Architectural model making – Introduction to the Laser Cutter

Projects
  • As built drawings in AutoCAD and Sketchup

  • Sketchup drawing

  • Tree House plans OR Dream House plans

  • Model of dream house, using materials and AutoCAD plans. Walls will be cut

       using the laser cutter.

Students can talk to me during class or after school. I can also be reached by

Homework Policy: 

Home work must be handed in in a timely fashion. 

Quizzes/Test: 

There is a final exam at the end of the semester. It is approximately 10% of the

quarter's grade.

Supplies Needed

1.      Notebook for notes

2.      Headphones to listen to Sketchup tutorials

Extra Help:

Extra help is available during student's study halls or after school from 2:30 to 3:00.

Tardiness and Absences:

Student will need to make up any tardiness at the end of the day. 

Make Up Work:

Work can be made up till the end of the quarter for full credit.

Grading:

Grades are based on points averaged by quarter: Final Exam: 10%, Homework: 5%,

attitude and effort: 10%, projects: 75%

All work will be reviewed with the student. Assignments can be resubmitted for full

credit till the end of the quarter. Any plagiarism will result in a 0 for the assignment.

Each student is expected to be actively working in the CADD lab during each class

period. Failure to work actively will result in a zero for that class.
